“The Guys And The Team Are Very Much Used To It” – Rohit Sharma On Jasprit Bumrah’s Unavailability

India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma has clearly said that the unavailability of the pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is something that they are used to now.

The premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been out of action for an extended period of time. He last played international cricket for India in September 2022, before being ruled out with a back injury. He recently underwent back surgery in New Zealand and now is hoping to regain full fitness ahead of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

At a press conference after the second ODI between India and Australia, Rohit Sharma admitted that Bumrah is irreplaceable. However, the Indian skipper wants everyone to move ahead instead of thinking too much about the absence of Jasprit Bumrah.

Rohit Sharma also said that in the absence of Bumrah, pacers like Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj have taken the responsibility pretty well.

“Bumrah has been absent for more than eight months now, the guys and the team are very much used to it. It is very hard to fill Bumrah’s shoes. We all know that he is a quality bowler but now that is not been available for us. Let’s not just keep thinking about that,” Rohit told the media.

“We have to move ahead and guys have taken the responsibility pretty well (Mohammad ) Siraj, (Mohammed) Shami, Shardul (Thakur), we have got Umran and Jaydev (Unadkat) as well,” he said.

We did not bat well – Rohit Sharma

Steve Smith & Co. demolished Team India in the second ODI at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam on Sunday, March 19 to level the series 1-1.

Chasing a modest total of 118, Australian openers Marsh (66) and Travis Head (51) batted exceptionally well to lead their side to a dominant 10-wicket victory over Team India and to hand the hosts their heaviest defeat in the history of ODI cricket in terms of balls remaining.

Speaking about the match, Rohit Sharma expressed disappointment over the performance of the Indian batters in the match and said that getting bundled out for 117 was unacceptable.

“We did not bat well. It was not the pitch where we could have gotten out for 117. We didn’t apply ourselves. When you lose a couple of wickets early, it’s important to create a partnership or two so that you can get back into the game.

“When you have only 117 runs on the board, the (opposition) batters have nothing to lose other than to come and try and swing the bat,” Rohit Sharma said.
