Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar has proposed a solution to the ongoing dispute between the BCCI and the PCB over the hosting rights for the Asia Cup 2023.
PCB Chairman Najam Sethi stated earlier this week that the board was looking into every option in regard to the Asia Cup in Pakistan and the ODI World Cup in India.

The cricketing ties between India and Pakistan have hit a rough patch with the ongoing disagreement between the two boards over the venue for the Asia Cup 2023. The BCCI has expressed concerns over the security of the Indian contingent during the event in Pakistan, leading to suggestions for a neutral venue. However, the PCB has strongly opposed this idea and has received support from former Pakistani cricketers who have even called for a boycott of the ODI World Cup in India after the Asia Cup.
This situation highlights the tense relations between the two countries and the impact it can have on sporting events. It is important for both boards to come to a mutually acceptable solution to ensure the smooth functioning of the sport and promote healthy competition.

“I want to see India and Pakistan play the final in Asia Cup”- Shoaib Akhtar
Shoaib Akhtar, a former Pakistani cricketer, has suggested that the Asia Cup 2023 tournament be held in Sri Lanka as a neutral venue, if not in Pakistan. He also expressed his desire for India and Pakistan to play in the finals of the Asia Cup and World Cup, which would be a great spectacle for cricket fans around the world. However, the ongoing disagreements between the BCCI and PCB over the hosting rights of the Asia Cup 2023 could potentially jeopardize Pakistan’s hosting rights for the 2025 Champions Trophy as well.
“I want Asia Cup 2023 to be held in Pakistan if not Pakistan then Sri Lanka. I want to see India and Pakistan play the final in Asia Cup and World Cup. Nothing else should happen in world cricket just India and Pakistan finals,” Shoaib Akhtar told ANI.
There have been rumors that India will drop out of the event after Pakistan was chosen to host the 2023 Asia Cup. India won’t visit Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup, according to Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah, who made the announcement in October 2022. The new venue will be decided in the second round of the Executive Board meeting of ACC members in the month of March.
