Heading into the second ODI, Rohit Sharma is now just 79 runs away from overtaking MS Dhoni‘s tally of 17,092 runs and become the fifth-leading run scorer for the Men in Blue in international cricket. The Hitman has played a total of 438 matches for India to date across formats in which he has scored a total of 17,014 runs. Another 79 runs would take him above the former Indian skipper in terms of most-run getters for India in international cricket. Rohit Sharma will move up to number five and will be only behind Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Rahul Dravid, and Sourav Ganguly.

The Indian skipper scored his 30th ODI ton in the ODI series against New Zealand. He scored scored 101 runs from 85 balls in Indore equalling Rickey Ponting’s tally of ODI centuries. Both Rohit and Ponting are now equal with 30 ODI tons and the Vizag ODI gives him an opportunity to go past his tally of hundreds as well.
