RCB Sign Michael Bracewell As An Injury Replacement Player For Will Jacks

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) signed New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell as a replacement player for Will Jacks for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). England all-rounder Will Jacks was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury that he sustained while fielding in the second ODI in Mirpur during the tour of Bangladesh for the white-ball series.

Michael Bracewell has yet to make his debut in the cash-rich league. The left-handed batter went unsold at the IPL mini-auction in December after being listed with a base price of Rs 1 crore. The Faf du Plessis-led team signed him, as the spin-bowling all-rounder is familiar with Indian conditions and will be available for the entire season.

Michael Bracewell To Join Royal Challengers Bangalore Squad

The Bangalore-based franchise signed Bracewell at his base price of INR 1 crore. He represented New Zealand in 8 Tests, 19 ODIs, and 16 T20Is. The 32-year-old scored 113 runs and picked up 21 wickets in the shorter format of the game. He shone with the bat during the first ODI against India, scoring 140 runs on 78 balls, including 12 fours and 10 sixes in a 350-run chase.

Will Jacks was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 3.2 crore at the IPL mini-auction in December as a backup for Glenn Maxwell in their middle order. In the last four months, the English all-rounder has made his debut in all three international formats. The 24-year-old made his T20I and Test debuts in Pakistan and received his ODI cap in Bangladesh.

The much-awaited 16th edition of the IPL will kick off on March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Royal Challengers will start their campaign in the mega tournament against the Mumbai Indians at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on April 2, their first match at their home ground since May 2019.
