The 2023 season of the Indian Premier League will commence on the 31st of March with a match between defending champions Gujarat Titans and the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings in Ahmedabad.
Ahead of the new season, the CSK team, including MS Dhoni, has been practising since earlier this month at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. In videos posted by the official social media accounts of Chennai Super Kings, Dhoni was seen hitting massive shots during the team’s practice sessions. Furthermore, in this edition of the IPL, the Chennai Super Kings will return to their home stadium.
Rumours have circulated that the 2023 season of the IPL may mark the end of Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s playing career for the CSK team.

Deepak Chahar Gives An Update On MS Dhoni’s Potential Retirement
Deepak Chahar, the CSK star who is expected to make a comeback to cricketing action after a prolonged injury break, has given a significant update on MS Dhoni’s future with the team just before the start of the IPL season. Although there is no official confirmation about whether this is MS Dhoni’s last season with CSK, Chahar expressed his desire for Dhoni to continue as the team’s captain in the upcoming year.

“No one has said that this would be his final year. At least, he hasn’t. Hopefully, he will play more. We don’t know any such thing, we want him to play as much as he can,” he told News India Sports.
“He knows when to retire, we saw it when he did in Tests and international cricket. No one else knows. I just hope he continues to play, it’s a privilege to play under him. It has been a dream to play with him. He’s in good touch as well, you will see that when he bats in the IPL this year.”
In the 2022 edition of the tournament, ahead of the team’s last group game, MS Dhoni hinted at this possibility. He mentioned that he will be returning next season to express his appreciation to fans all over India since the Indian Premier League is set to be held in 12 different cities in 2023.
