IND vs AUS: “Slightly Challenging For A Captain To Have Extra Spinners In The Team To Get The Balance Right” – Sachin Tendulkar On India’s Chances In WTC Final

India qualified for the World Test Championship (WTC) final for the second consecutive time, which is scheduled to be played at the Oval in London starting on June 7. Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar believes that India have a balanced side, but it would be challenging for them with the overcast conditions.

The Rohit Sharma-led team beat Australia by a 2-1 margin in the recently concluded Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) at home. India drew the final Test of the four-match series in Ahmedabad and advanced to the WTC after New Zealand’s victory over Sri Lanka. Australia secured a berth in the final with their victory in the Indore Test.

We Stand A Very Good Chance – Sachin Tendulkar

Speaking at the 20th edition of the India Today Conclave, Sachin Tendulkar believes that India have a good chance to reach the WTC final. The 49-year-old suggested the Indian team management pick the team according to the conditions. He further said that it would be challenging for a captain to have extra spinners in the team with the forecast conditions throughout the five days.

“In Test cricket, you will have to understand conditions for the next five days and pick the squad accordingly. We have played well and we have a good team, a balanced team,” Tendulkar said in India Today Conclave.

“It would be slightly challenging for a captain to have extra spinners in the team to get the balance right. I am only thinking from India’s point of view, let Australians do what they want to do. We stand a very good chance,” he said.

Earlier, Team India lost to New Zealand by eight wickets in the inaugural edition of WTC 2021 at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. The Black Caps won their first ICC trophy after finishing runners-up in the 2015 and 2019 World Cups.
