KL Rahul rescued the team after the batting line-up collapsed to 39/4 in 11 overs. Mitchell Starc and Marcus Stoinis bowled well in the powerplay and troubled the Indian batters. The Karnataka batter formed crucial partnerships with stand-in captain Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja to complete the 189-run chase.

Player Always Thinks Positive And Tries His Best For The Team – Mohammed Shami
During the post-match press conference, Mohammed Shami said that KL Rahul batted well under pressure despite wickets falling from the other end.
“We often talk about being under pressure or being in and out of form. But a player always thinks positive and tries his best for the team. He always thinks of playing a good innings or giving great starts. And we have seen him playing well for the team in the past,” Shami told reporters.

“But sometimes it happens that you run out of luck or have a tough day in the office. That’s a phase and a player goes through that. But there comes a time when you start playing your regular shots. And the way our batting collapsed, and it was good to see him that way under pressure,” Shami added.
Rahul scored an unbeaten 75 runs off 91 runs, including seven boundaries and a six. India defeated Australia by five wickets in the first match of the series to take a 1-0 lead. The Hardik Pandya-led team will take on the visitors in the second ODI in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, March 19.
