Former Indian fast bowler, Venkatesh Prasad, has recently praised Indian cricketer KL Rahul for his exceptional performance in the India-Australia ODI match held in Mumbai. Despite having criticized Rahul in the past, Prasad took to social media to congratulate him for his exceptional batting display, particularly under pressure. 

KL Rahul’s 13th ODI half-century proved to be vital in India’s 5-wicket win over Australia, securing a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Prasad further lauded Rahul’s composure and temperament in dealing with the pressure situation during the match.

He mentioned that KL Rahul’s innings was truly brilliant, and he demonstrated his expertise in handling the game and his impeccable timing in hitting the ball. It was indeed a remarkable comeback by KL Rahul, who has faced his fair share of criticism in the recent past.

Prior to his recent praise for KL Rahul, Venkatesh Prasad had been critical of Rahul’s performances and selection in the Indian cricket team. He had taken to social media to express his views, tweeting that Rahul’s inclusion in the team was preventing other talented players from getting a chance to prove their worth.

Prasad’s comments had caused a stir in the cricketing community, as his reputation as a former player and coach gave weight to his opinion. Many had speculated that his criticism of Rahul was a result of the batter’s poor form in recent matches.

Venkatesh Prasad Takes A U-Turn On KL Rahul’s Criticism

KL Rahul’s innings was instrumental in India’s victory over Australia in the Mumbai ODI. Batting at number 5, he came to the crease when India were in trouble at 39 for 4, with several key players already dismissed. 

KL Rahul started cautiously but steadily built his innings with a 44-run partnership alongside Hardik Pandya, who was the aggressor in the partnership. After Pandya’s dismissal, Rahul partnered with Ravindra Jadeja to take India to a comfortable victory. 

He scored his 13th ODI half-century in 73 balls and went on to score 75 runs off 91 deliveries, hitting seven boundaries and a six. His partnership with Jadeja, which added 108 runs to the scoreboard, was pivotal in India’s successful chase.
