Former India National Cricket Team player Wasim Jaffer was highly impressed with the captaincy of premier all-rounder Hardik Pandya in the first ODI against Australia National Cricket Team at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Hardik Pandya, who was recently promoted to the vice-captaincy role in white-ball cricket, led Team India in the first ODI in the absence of Rohit Sharma, who was unavailable for the game due to some family commitments.

Indian bowlers performed exceptionally in the match and restricted the Aussies to 188 after they were off to a flying start on the back of Mitchell Marsh’s sensational power-hitting in the first 20 overs.
Chasing a comparatively low total on the surface where Mitchell Starc was breathing fire was not at all easy for the Men In Blue as they were reduced to 39/4. However, KL Rahul stitched together crucial partnerships first with Hardik Pandya and then with Ravindra Jadeja to guide India to a comprehensive 5-wicket victory.
Jadeja dismissing Marsh at the right time was very crucial – Wasim Jaffer
Highlighting the crucial moment of the first ODI, Wasim Jaffer said Ravindra Jadeja dismissing Mitchell Marsh was a complete game-changer.
“Jadeja dismissing Marsh at the right time was very crucial. The way Marsh was batting, it seemed like India could have been chasing anything near 275 or even 300,” he said.
Wasim Jaffer also lauded Mohammed Shami and said that the pacer getting breakthroughs for his side in the middle overs was very crucial.
“Yes, I think Shami getting those wickets in the middle overs was crucial. The way he picked the top-order wickets in the middle order was a big moment in the game,” he said.
