Sourav Ganguly’s appointment as Director of Cricket seems to be paying dividends for the Delhi Capitals, as the team is well-placed to reach the playoffs in the ongoing Women’s Premier League. Ganguly had already begun working with the franchise during the SA20 and the Women’s Premier League, where his expertise and strategic thinking have been put to good use. Notably, Ganguly had previously served as the mentor of Delhi Capitals during IPL 2019, working closely with head coach Ricky Ponting to guide the team.

In another major announcement, Delhi Capitals have named David Warner as their new captain for the IPL 2023 season. Sourav Ganguly, speaking on the appointment, said he is thrilled to return to Delhi Capitals and has already had a taste of the work during his stints with Pretoria in the SA20 and DC in the WPL.

“I’m excited to be back with the Delhi Capitals. My association with the women’s team, and the Pretoria Capitals over the last few months have been fantastic, and I’m looking forward to the upcoming season of the IPL. Delhi Capitals had done well as a team during my last stint with them” Sourav Ganguly said.

“I’ve already been involved with the players this time around, and I’m keen to see them as a group. Hopefully, we will all have a great time over the next couple of months,” Sourav Ganguly added.

Importantly, Ganguly was reportedly offered the position of IPL chairman, but he graciously declined the offer.
