David Warner Set To Return In Second ODI Against India in Visakhapatnam: Reports

Australian opener David Warner will return to the playing XI in the second ODI against India in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, March 19 as per reports. India won the first ODI by five wickets as Warner had to sit out as he was not fit to play the first game.

However, Chief Selector George Bailey has said that he is expecting David Warner to play both the remaining games. Warner was ruled out of the last two Test matches due to a concussion injury. He was subsequently sent home to recover from an elbow injury that he suffered in the first innings of the second Test thereby missing the last two Tests.

“David is coming along nicely and a few more days of rehabilitation will be extremely beneficial,” Bailey said.

David Warner needed a medical clearance after being assessed by the Australian medical team to play the first ODI. However, he missed the first ODI as Australian skipper Steve Smith said that he was not fully fit to take the field.

Warner will open the batting with Travis Head. Mitchell Marsh who replaced Warner in the first ODI struck an efficient 81 and looked the most assured Aussie batter in Mumbai. The Australian management has an option of leaving Marnus Labuschagne out from the playing XI who scored just 15 in the first game.
